ATTENDANCE and TARDY REMINDERS
by: Claire Loria
Pattison Registrar & ADA Clerk
On the day that your student is absent, the parent/guardian should contact the Attendance Clerk as early as possibly to notify the school of the absence. Every day your student is absent you need to notify the Attendance Clerk.
If a parent does not make a telephone call or personal contact with the Attendance Clerk, the student must bring a note signed by the parent on the date of return to school. The note must include the reason for the absence, the student's first and last name, grade level, and the dates of the absence. Telephone or personal contact through email by the parent with the Attendance Clerk is the preferred method of reporting a student's absence.
Teachers are not responsible for notifying the Attendance Clerk of the student's absence. If a parent notifies the teacher, please copy the Attendance Clerk at or call at 281-237-5455.
If the school does not receive timely notification regarding an absence, within three days of an absence, it will result in an unexcused absence. Three unexcused absences in a four week period results in a Compulsory Attendance Notification letter and the student being placed on an Attendance Intervention Plan, if not resolved.
Regulations have changed for doctor's notes. We are no longer able to accept notes that say "until fever free". The doctor's note must specify exact dates the student is excused or the date they may return to school.
A student is considered tardy when the student is not in the proper place with all needed materials before the tardy bell rings at 8:20 am. There are no excused tardies for those students who arrive by a mode of transportation other than riding a school bus. In addition, tardies may be used in presenting a student's overall attendance record to the court when a student has violated compulsory attendance.
Thanks for your cooperation and compliance, Colt Parents!
