What a Day! Thank you PTA!
By Whitney La Rocca, Pattison Instructional Coach, ELA/SS
Due to the support of PTA, our reading teachers were treated with a unique professional development experience on October 8th with Barb Golub, Global Literacy Consultant, who works with teachers around the world. The day began with analyzing data, such as observation notes, conferring notes, running records, and student-written thoughts, in different ways to decide what each individual needed in our classrooms for reading instruction. Barb then led us through a planning session for conferring or small group instruction and modeled lessons in the classroom. But our day went much further than observing!
Our incredible teachers then received feedback from this expert as they conferred and taught their own small groups. The teachers were also paired with teachers from other grade levels in order to build cohesiveness vertically. Finally, we ended our time with Barb in a debrief session where she provided next steps for us to consider. Barb Golub was extremely impressed by the level instruction already happening at Pattison, the level of professionalism our teachers display, and, most importantly, the depth of thinking our students demonstrated. We learned so much from her in this short time, and we would like to thank our PTA for using their funds to support us in this way. Because of this teamwork, our students continue to get the absolute best instruction each and every day!
Winter Box Top Contest
The class that collects the most Box Tops by the end of this nine-week collection period wins a treat for each person in the class!

NEW!!! Coming Soon!
November 16th, 7;15-7:45am
For the first time ever, in the tradition of our Mornings with Mom and Donuts with Dad, our PTA would like to invite all GRANDPARENTS to enjoy breakfast with their Pattison students!
We hope this becomes an annual tradition that everyone looks forward to. The students really enjoy these special mornings sharing their school and friends with their favorite folks. We look forward to seeing them there!
CERAMIC PROJECT PAINTERS!
No experience necessary- if you can trace and use a paintbrush, you can help! These pieces are a fun annual tradition for our Auction and make fantastic mementos of your student's grade school years. Each grade is asked to find at least one parent volunteer painter to take their classroom's artwork and transfer it to a ceramic piece to be sold in our Spring Online Auction.
**Goal is to have all ceramic pieces and artwork ready to pass out by 12/1**
**All finished pieces are DUE: MARCH 4th**
Please consider joining us in this fun project. Remember, no experience needed! See PT-Avenue VOLUNTEER TAB for more detailed info and sign up by classroom. If you are logged in already, CLICK HERE
