LAST CALL!!!

CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY October 7th!

With walking and biking to school, there’s a feeling of joy and independence —a sense of adventure—that doesn’t fade. When walking or biking, parents and children get to appreciate things they don’t notice while driving—listening to the sounds of the neighborhood, seeing friends and neighbors and feeling connected with their community. Parents, children & friends can enjoy one another’s company without the usual distractions.  Our walking and bicycling event celebrate these experiences.

Besides the fun, the benefits of walking or biking to school are numerous including:  reducing the pollution around our schools, fostering healthy habits for children, and building a strong sense of community.

The International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and bicycling to school.  This will be the third year the Pattison PTA sponsors our schools participation in this international event.

We are celebrating this event at Pattison as a walk TO school event.   You only need to let your teacher know about the change in transportation if you will be going home in a different way than usual.  Changes in transportation need to be in the form of a hand written note sent to school with your child.

For safety tips about walking and biking to school, please go to http://www.walkbiketoschool.org/keep-going/bike-safety Bikers are strongly encouraged to wear bike helmets.

For questions about Pattison's particpation in this event please write to PTA volunteer Beverly Whitley at environmental@pattison.txpta.org

We look forward to greeting you as you walk or bike!

A NOTE FROM OUR HOMEROOM PARENT COORDINATORS:

Once again, Pattison has a great team of Homeroom Parents for the school year and we want to thank all of them for signing up! The list is posted all year on our website under the "YOUR PTA" tab for your reference. However, it is not complete!

We are still in need of Homeroom Parents for a few of our amazing teachers.  Please CLICK HERE to look at the list and if you notice your student's teacher has a PARENT NEEDED, please email us so we may fill these positions immediately! With the exception of one class, these positions are to be co-parent with another parent who has already signed up.

Thank you!
