Pattison PTA Executive Board

job descriptions and details




President– Shall preside at all meetings of the association and shall coordinate the work of the officers and committees of the association.


1st Vice-President (Programs)– Shall aid the president and be responsible for programs at the general PTA meetings, school supplies, recycling, and services provided by the PTA.


2nd Vice-President (Membership)– Shall solicit PTA members, keep records of dues, update computer membership listings and communicate with the Texas PTA on membership issues.


3rd Vice-President (Ways & Means)– Shall oversee fund-raising events (including carnival, fall/spring dinner, etc.) to meet the needs of the predetermined PTA budget.


4th Vice-President (Volunteers)- Shall recruit volunteers to aid in filling committee positions, to assist with programs and events, and to aid in other volunteering needs.


Secretary– Shall record the minutes of all regular meetings of the association and of the executive committee.


Treasurer– Shall have custody of all funds of the association and shall keep a full and accurate account of the receipts and expenditures.


Historian - shall collect and preserve documents relating the history of the association.


Parliamentarian  - shall advise the presiding officer on questions of parliamentary procedure.



These volunteers serve as voting members of the Pattison PTA Executive Board and attend monthly Board Meetings (currently 1st/2nd Tuesday 10:30-noon). Generally speaking, the Chair positions require more year-round involvement.  Committee Chairs are also required to attend Texas PTA Foundations Leadership Orientation, which is a 2-hour training course offered in person and online.  Due to work load or efficiency of execution, several of these chair positions also have Vice-Chairs.


Arts in Education

  • Organize the entertainment for two Friday early dismissal dates

  • Organizes the school level PTA “Reflections” competition and submits entries to district competition


  • Organize and oversee a committee that will plan the annual Pattison Online Auction (Spring) which includes: procurement of items and donations; classroom basket ideas and collections; coordination of class ceramics with team leaders; documenting/photographing/ uploading all items (with links,  expiration dates, and details) to auction website; and all payment and pickup arrangements of all auction items.  


  • Organize and oversee a committee that will plan the annual Pattison Carnival (Spring) which includes: planning dates; researching and scheduling all rides, food vendors, and security; acquisition of prizes, candy store and general store items; all decorations and signage; ticket and wristband sales (including coordination with web store);  etc.

Homeroom Parent Coordinator

  • Oversee recruitment and information session for Homeroom Parent and Grade Level Coordinators

  • Work with Grade Level Coordinators to plan two preset parties for students

  • Work with the Carnival Chair to organize Homeroom Parent recruitment of Carnival booth volunteers


  • Design Hospitality Plan and schedule at the beginning of the school year

  • Organize and implement a welcome lunch (August) and monthly treats for staff

  • Submit and execute a plan for treats, activities and lunch for Teacher Appreciate Week (May)

Katy Council Delegates (2)

  • Attend Katy Council Meetings throughout the year (evening)

  • Report to the PTA important issues that affect Pattison

Library Liasion

  • Create and maintain monthly volunteer schedule that allows the library to have a consistent volunteer staff

  • Assist library staff with training of volunteers and assisting with the book fairs and other projects

Pattison Post

  • Design and oversee publication of the weekly Pattison Post PTA newsletter


  • Photograph a variety of school events for the purpose of submitting Pattison photos for publication in Katy/Houston area news publications.

  • Provide pictures of Historian and Yearbook Chair

Communications: Technology & Pay Pal

  • Manage and update website contents continuously; creating new pages, monthly lunch menus, adding forms, editing articles, etc. as necessary.

  • Coordinate with Pattison Post Chair for monthly update to website front page; create links within as necessary.

  • Coordinate purchasing and ordering pages/ links with School Supplies, Yearbook, Spirit Wear, Membership, Auction, carnival, etc. throughout the year

  • Train and advise Board as necessary.


  • Work with the board approved vendor as a liaison

  • Create a yearbook representing the entire school population

  • Oversee year book sales

  • Distribute yearbook

  • Provide pictures to Webmaster, Historian, and Publicity Chair

Youth Protection

  • Prepare and distribute emergency bags for each classroom (before school starts)

  • Coordinate with Pattison staff members for events during “Be Drug Free” Week.

  • Assist school nurse with Flue Shot Clinic




These volunteers report to a PTA Officer, are not voting members of the Executive Board, and are not required to attend the monthly Board Meetings.  However, they are always welcome to attend, and are expected to make reports and motions at Board meetings as needed.



  • Oversee the upkeep of the outside and inside areas that are maintained by the PTA

  • Oversee Board approved improvement projects on campus

Box Tops

  • Help court and bundle Box Tops for submission.

Dad’s Club/ Watch D.O.G.S. 

  • Schedule meeting and plan Dad’s Club events.

  • Set goals with the assistance of the Board.

  • Communicate with and organize volunteers as necessary.


  • Coordinate the gathering of information to produce a hard copy and online student directory.

  • Communicate with the teachers, school attendance clerk and the print shop to ensure accuracy.

Donuts with Dad AND Muffins with Mom

  • Preorder and pick-up items for the morning event.

  • Coordinate set-up, volunteers and cleanup for the event.

Junior Achievement

  • Coordinate volunteers in all grades who will teach children the developed curriculum from the Junior Achievement organization.

  • Insure the provided program materials are distributed to volunteer.

Merchant Rebate

  • Distribute information about and encourage participation in local rebate options such as Randall’s, Office Depot, Target, Kroger, and others

School Store

  • Purchase and stock items for and run the monthly (or weekly) school store

  • Coordinate volunteers to help with school store

Spirit Wear

  • Design and create spirit wear items for board approval.

  • Coordinate all purchasing and processing of orders received throughout year.


  • Oversee monthly volunteer schedule that allows the workroom to have a consistent volunteer staff
